EMPS DOWN!

Er, I mean...

EMPS GONE!

Sunday night Ace and Gary poofed on us while we were working on them for the first time.  I can assure you that this was after several gut-wrenching 2% wipes.  By which I mean wipes with several 2%s below 100%.

So for the remainder of the evening, there would be no more of this hot action:

Ah well, you know what they say, when you fall off the horse, you've got to get a new horse because that one probably sucked anyway.

For those who are interested though, we killed the Twin Emperors tonight, being our second night of attempts.  Go fig.

The loot was very looty, good old famous TE loot.  At least Kentucky Fried Warlock and Better Than Noroth got new helms.

This was the most enjoyable night in raiding for me in some time, the encounter is very cool and the guild really put forth the effort to get it done.  Despite pretty high expenses for everyone on the night attitudes stayed good and we didn't have to beg people to stay into overtime, they just did.  For those curious on epeen benchmarks:

A) We spent right around five hours learning it.

B) It took about 12:50

C) We used two war tanks

D) Grayson and I are the jesuses.  No further credit need be distributed >.>

<.<

So on to new targets this week, we finished them off so late we couldn't even take the time to clear to quest NPCs and get our regalia/armaments submitted, all three combined of them.  Unfortunately there's simply no way we'll make any progress this week as Grayson and I are both out for the first two of four raid nights.

Coincidence is of course implied against.  Aww, yeah.  Now, the impossibility of us progressing with Grayson and I gone for half the week is not so much from the lack of ability of the other wars to get shit done but just the fact that we're taking 75% of the tanking loot with us.

Suckers!  Well, that's all for now folks, nothing special.  Except...I didn't get the chat log but we determined that Emps would own Vael in a fight for obvious reasons and Raz would own Emps due to his mana burn just destroying one and his melee swings the other (who would of course have aggro).  Considering it took longer for us to get Raz down than emps, and emps took longer than vael, this all seems to make sense.

Give me a stage and a mic and a mix

Hey loyal front page readers, long time no see.  Sorry for the lack of content for the last four months but there hasn't been much to write about.  Also please excuse the low quality of my screenshots these days, ever since Nef my graphics have been slammed down in favor of performance.

Let me kick this off by apologizing to any alliance on the business end of Hyjal's PvP for a couple of things.

Yeah, it's not Plagueheart but it is Manikuba.  Additionally Robeen got his Ashkandi.  Our condolences to you and yours.

So what's been the hold up?  Well, what can I say.  After an initial burst of interest for Naxx attendance fell off yet again, we lost some more old-timers to RL.  Fun times for everyone.  We tried many things, motivational speaking for example:

We tried a two-pronged approach, with positive affirmation and a bit of the old trusted Have the Healers Yell at Other Healers technique:

Some psyching up the raid the old fashioned way:

Positive thinking:

I'd like to note that Kindness seems to know this entire song.

We had random trash wipes...

But we really learned a lot about each other as a guild, as raiders...as people.

After sitting on our T3 shit from Raz for a while, for some ridiculous reason thinking we'd be killing Anub shortly thereafter, we did finally finish the quest.  This trash is purdy.

We've had some pretty quality apps in this time.

Worked on some interesting mods.

We even tried some diplomacy with Anub.  Here is our Bug Ambassador, Bonk:

This strategy does not work.  Regarding the following quote, it's worth mentioning that this is one of about three things that Rainy has ever said in guild chat since she's been with us.  I am not intentionally aware of any painkillers or other narcotics that might have been involved in the following conversation:

Yes...Rainy wins this round.  You'd think that with the amount of females we've had in the guild we'd be used to frank sex talk out of them, but for some reason I think the testosterone might be a little overwhelming at times.  I'm not even sure if I should post the next quote as it would be encouraging a certain well-known scoundrel...but what the hell.

Anyway, while we were trying everything we could to get Naxx in line we just weren't pulling the numbers, leading to a lot of this:

So I really don't know if I can explain exactly what caused us to pull it together and get back to the action with the amount of gusto that we have, but I think it started with this late-night, sloppy-ass 33 person kill of Razuv.  All of our Razuv kills end up being sloppy at the end but what the fuck, when you're short people you'll take what you can get.

Note the Canadian laughing hysterically at not-very funny things.

Don't let the front page update fool you...Grayson and I have a relationship with a lot of mutual respect and admiration.  I know Ramar really feels the same way.

Mmmhmm.  Anyway so back to the timeline.  Later that week we decided we were short on raid tits, so we worked to amend that.  Unfortunately Vael hates boobs and let none pass this day.

Would you believe this is the first time we've done this?

Isn't he kyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute?  You know this wasn't the same week, but I'd like to comment on Chrom.  The Officers have long had a sort of voodoo belief that if we have shitty raids with shitty kills/wipes etc we will get shitty loot, and vice-versa.  Well...I'll go into it a bit later but on a particularly outstanding BWL run we just about broke the record on awesome Chromag loot.  Check this, and eat your heart out:

Not to make it sound like we get CTS and Claw every kill, but christ.  We needed a couple Nemesis shoulders to really round that out.  You notice how they didn't deem Stormrage to deserve a unique icon unlike almost all the other T2 shoulders?  I think I looted that icon the first time when I was a level 17 warrior in beta.

Good times are not without their exceptions:

To start our raid week out we're back in Naxx.  It's a tad short to start but what the hell, we clear some shit out and head on down to Raz.  By the time we've gotten to him we have a nice solid full raid and have annihilated trash brutally on the way down.  Thus follows our first really clean Raz kill, and quite frankly a total rape of the poor bastard at that.  What can I say?  When you're short healers and the ones you have are typically undergeared, students might go down.  If you're accustomed to full T2/T2.5 healers and a normal 13-16 salvo of them it might not seem like this fight takes much healing.

Per our voodoo belief we finally got an Iblis...yeah no screenshot available.  We were too busy moving on.

Going straight to Anub we of course got a nearly flawless pull or two in.

Thankfully we'd rebuffed ourselves with lots...and lots...and lots of 20 man action since our ability to make progress in 40 man zones had been gimped.  Even some hot 5-man action!

Did you know that Spire had a new loading screen?  How long has this been in game?

Yeah, that's me, doing Emberstrife for the first time...in full wrath.

And this is us:

There was much rejoicing.  This seems like a good time to lay down the timeline of our kills over the last FOUR MONTHS.

5.22.06: Sartura

7.09.06: Razuvious

9.20.06: Anub

Oddly, it doesn't stop there.  Let me introduce you to the MVP of Avarice:

This mighty jumping crab keeps us safe while we pull trash mobs.  Unfortunately...he was not quite enough to get us to Faerlina in time for some hot action this night, as we had to untard a little bit learning the caster packs.  No matter.

Per my promise just the previous day, as soon as we killed Anub, we'd go back to TAQ for the first time since before Naxx was launched.  What resulted was a pretty brutal beatdown.  Bosses we hadn't pulled for months were being one- and two-shotted, including Sartura who we had one prior kill of.  Yes our slump did not start in Naxx.

I don't have a screenshot for the below...it just didn't seem to merit one, it was that stupid easy.  Yes it took us two pulls but hell the first one was 20% and was only fucked up by some bad OT handling + some rather...unfortunate use of AE.

9.21.06: Fankriss

The cavalry was rolling.

We again didn't get much time with Huhu...33 people and one hunter by the time we got there.   The Anti-MVP managed to make some sweet pulls in Snips' absence which might have delayed us just a little.

>.>

<.<

On to the next night, the night we got the fucking awesomest Chrom loot ever, we pulled out...oh about a 2.5 hour clear of BWL.  I guess people wanted to kill Huhu?

On a not-very-side note, I'd like to comment again on my favorite tank who isn't me.  Grayson...refuses to turn off his retarded wrath helm graphic.  I guess it's worth noting that all the warriors in the guild except myself and I guess Rikka seem to think this thing looks fucking awesome.  But it's not just the damned helm.  It's also...the cloak.  You know what the stud tanks in the guild are all wearing as of today?  The ossi cloak.  Do you know how retarded that looks on a level 60 character, what to speak of a full-wrath tank?  Finally...I got him to take it off, and the helm too.  Check it out:

Doesn't he look much better?  While I'm on the subject of tanks...can you see possibly why I fucking HATE Chromaggus?

Yeah maybe a little bit?

Anyway back on Grayson.  So the night after we make this breakthrough, there he is with the goddamned things on again.  I encourage all of you to send him in-game mail and/or PMs to break him of this horrid habit.  He's only hurting himself.

Why wasn't this a derail?  Well while we're talking about Grayson's sexiness, I'd like you to consider something.  What, to you, is good sex?  I mean those of you who have had it (good sex...sex at all).  I'm not trying to discriminate against virgins/bad lovers among the readers but I refuse to avoid the topic.  Anyway, I think ultimately no matter how you go about it, you're looking for a result something akin to this:

9.24.06: Huhuran

This was, for those who don't know our schedule, the next raid night, in case that wasn't clear.  So what the fuck got into us?  Let me be perfectly clear, the problem here was motivation...so we brought in a ringer with a mission:

That's right motherfuckers....Sting.

We got back to Faer.

I don't know why, but looking at this chick up close makes me think of a visit I paid very recently to the Bellis Fair mall's Hot Topic.  As I walk in, I spot a hooded sweatshirt with a pretty nice-looking WoW design on the front, saying in big letters "WORLD OF WARCRAFT" because you know just having some nice art that those of us who aren't tools wouldn't mind buying and wearing would be a crime.  As an aside what the fuck is wrong with merchandisers in this way?  Can you make something that someone with a moderate amount of taste, who doesn't want to be a walking billboard, can wear, and while only people who enjoy the same thing would know what it is, it's recognizable and they can buy brand items, should they be into that sort of thing, without looking like a tool/dork?

With these thoughts running through my mind, I look at it and shake my head as I walk into the store (was looking for some Tool stickers...they were out =[ ).  The clerk sees me and says "I know, it's a plague!"  Not to be a hypocrite, I say "Oh, I play...I just wouln't buy the shirt."

So we start talking about it.  I don't know why I ever engage in conversations about the game outside of the game and the raiding circle.  He's wearing a gold question-mark hat, I shit you not, and goes on about his experiences on the RP server he plays on.  Seems like a pretty cool guy and all, and I didn't mind listening to him, but there's nearly nothing to talk about with someone who isn't high-end.  Not for me anyway.  I guess that makes me elitist...I don't know.  But you know, on the flipside, we don't seem to mind engaging in dumb conversations like this:

Hot topic guy...I salute you.  We are all dorks, enjoying the game in our own way.  Keep reporting those bastard RP-violators, and keep it real on the Horde side.

I'm not making any predictions on Faer's death, but rest assured that we had some pretty solid shots on her.  Getting a couple more quotes in as I seem to be out of screenshots and material:

Til next time.

You're breathing so I guess you're still alive

Sartura died a long time ago, I'd post the shot but Update Mojo just isn't in me today and the guild is going to hunt me down and kill me if I don't post the following immediately (already a few days late) so I'll save it for later.  How history repeats itself:

Second Horde guild on the server to sport a Naxx kill.  I seem to remember us being the third to post an MC kill and the third to (lead) an Onyxia kill -- and the one to post the firsts is now on BDF =((.  We've had a really rough quarter with some significant rebuilding (again) but to all the people/guild reps who thought it was ok to get shitty with us while we were down: piss off. We're still here, we were probably here before your guild and will probably be here after it disbands out of frustration like so many others on our fine realm.  To everyone else: <3

<Training Raiders> sends you a message of love:

Recognize.

PS we are recruiting and will definitely look at some GEARED, EXPERIENCED cross-server applicants especially HEALERS.  Include references please.

A more interesting, even amusing update will commence when I have time to deal with not being able to find anything I need for it right down to the CDs I'm looking for.  God what the fuck.  This is really just a placeholder.

Anub down soon.

You give love a bad name...

Raiding last night, got disconnected a couple of times on zoning and ran into a familiar friend:

Wasn't a big deal, just had to head-fake it by making it think I was going to cancel, then it brought up the realm list and all was well.  The old bugginess is always the best.

Once all was said and done, a bit of eating and prancing about the domicile later, I determined it was time to get back to work on my shaman.  I want to get to level 31 so I can use this bad boy, can you see how hot it would be in the hand of an orc shaman of that level?  Oh yeah >=)

Wait...there's something afoot --

Truly the last thing I expect to see when there's a list of servers being affected by something is for Hyjal,  of all servers to be on that list.

Truly.

Here they come, here come the bastards

It's not that tanking dragons normally gives you a horrible PoV or anything, but at least Onyxia has some modicum of fucking decency.

Big props to nef for dropping the same robes again. <3

For the sake of officer confidentiality I cannot tell you what this was, but I can assure you it was not good.

Killed triplets.

Last night, came back for more.

Sartura is no longer an "optional" boss you can sneak by, apparently, so we started throwing it down with the bitch.  Good fight.  We got her down to one guard on night one.  See pie analogy.  I expect from what we learned, with a more solid gameplan we will go get her done this week WHEN, not IF but WHEN we get back to her.  Dammit.

Everyone did their damnedest with it, including some amateur attempts to draw on the same Dark Forces of Victory that led us to success in BWL and against Skeram, but it's an exact science and not to be trifled with.

I'm gonna burn, burn new life now, out of the chains that bind you

To cut the suspense we did not get stuck on Flamegor this week.  What a relief.  In fact, in our first BWL raid of the week we may have convinced ourselves that a clear in four hours is in the near future.  Some obstacles still stand in the way, such as someone's lately unreliable rig filling the raid with dragon face and tail as was the case with Nef on a couple of attempts before the kill, as was the case with Vael twice tonight.  I don't know how others are but I typically get a few seconds of lag right at the beginning of a Vael fight.  If we get through it without someone pulling aggro most people would never know it happened; if we wipe later in the pull said lag will be almost nonexistent at the beginning of the next pull and all will be well.

Well, pull one tonight I got the usual lag spike ++, and someone pulled aggro just long enough to fuck us fairly well to start.  We still got a good pull in but had several dead by the time adjustments were made (healers) and it just wasn't to be.  So I'm thinking everything's cool for the next attempt, but the old jalopy (on its second Radeon in 1 year) was clicking, spinning and churning, end result being yours truly getting a nice hard lock-up, and we had the unprecedented event of tank 2 stealing aggro early...but only sort of...dying,...bad things happening...wipe.

Turns out when I spend the morning with fifteen browser windows, 6-10 Photoshop documents and frontpage running, I should restart before the raid.  Lesson learned!  However, I didn't write the update to poormouth about my computer which typically serves me quite well, thank you.  I wrote it to describe what happened after I cycled the power, a crazy little thing called "owning shit."

Our DPS has been getting retarded, and I don't mean in the usual "retarded DPS" way -- I mean for what we have the output has been something to behold.  Pull three we got Vael down to 16% before transition   We damned near killed him before tank 2 blew up, in fact it was so close tank 3 didn't look like he was expecting Vael to live that long and the ensuing non-transition at 1% killed a few people for a little "last hurrah."

Despite this retarded and unnecessary pair of wipes on Vael, we still managed, after completely manhandling the zone, to start setting up for chromagg at 3:50 past scheduled start time.  Cut out the extra ten minutes of setup for razor thanks to the johnny-come-latelies and a couple of wipes, we're talking about at least 20 minutes shaved off of that number.

You could taste it -- we had the CREW, it was going to be our first one-night BWL clear right through Nef and not a 6 hour raid either. Buuut we ran into a little issue.

Grayson was having an emergency.

Ah we also had TL chromagg who we do not have perfectly nailed and certainly don't have every member of the raid force includding applicants trained in.  It being the end of the scheduled raid we called it, but what can I say -- more bug action this week?  I should think so.  Hot triplet action.

You know you've had a good night when you're admiring how good Ramar looks as a drakanoid.  I swear, if they every become a playable race...my god.  I'm there.

I think it might actually be time to stop whining about weapon drops...we still don't have a UTB and I already mentioned our awesome drop rates on some of your more pivotal weapons pre-BWL, but we had two crusaders to apply tonight and I think that's pretty fucking good.  Looking for that 2.5 minute Rag kill, fuck no sons, we're going straight for the jugular.
